Monte Baitridana

Singletrail-Action

The descent from Monte Baitridana is the trail bummer of the lower Valtellina: pure riding fun from the summit to the valley floor over an altitude difference of more than 1600 meters. Those who like racy single trails will get their money's worth here.

Description

No pain, no gain! You have to earn your way up Monte Baitridana, starting with a long climb on an asphalt road to a parking lot below the Rifugio Alpe Piazza. You could also take a shuttle up to here. The road then turns into a gravel path, which becomes very steep just before the hut. However, it is only the last few meters that are so strenuous - but at least the refreshments in the hut are within reach. At the Rifugio, you head onto a single trail that rides up to the inconspicuous summit of Monte Baitridana. The panorama is not very intoxicating because the summit is in the middle of the forest. However, the subsequent singletrail descent is exhilarating. This initially rides over the north-western ridge. Just before Monte Pitalone, turn right onto the northern flank of Monte Baitridana. The path now winds its way through the dense forest in a seemingly endless and wonderfully varied way. Every now and then you reach individual houses or a gravel road, but then always head straight back onto the next section of trail. In this mode, you descend right into the center of Morbegno - fantastic!

I rode the trail on 08.09.2022. As described, the ascent takes forever ;). But the Albaredo Valley is really beautiful with its small villages. Hardly any traffic on the road. The reward is an approx. 1700 TM long trail! The trail is hardly blocked, but relatively steep. The trail always runs through the forest on wonderful soil/leafy ground. A tour without a panorama, but with a fun single trail and beautiful scenery.
