Lag da Pigniu
Description
We start the tour in Brigels, from where it climbs up eight hairpin bends to Alp Dado Sut, although a large part of the route could also have been covered by chairlift. On a slightly ascending alpine path, you reach Alp da Stiarls, Alp Dadens Sura and finally the "Urschiu Sura" hilltop above the Val da Pigniu on a challenging single trail with a few sliding sections. The descent is first along the continuation of the single trail, then on well-maintained and fast alpine roads to Andiast. From here, ride up the Val da Pigniu on the right-hand side of the valley. Finally, you change sides of the valley and take a steep path to the small road that leads to the reservoir. Follow this uphill and ride around Lag da Pigniu to reach the singletrail on the western side of the lake and the singletrail descent at the dam wall. Finally, you reach the ascent route again and climb up the steep path to the reservoir road. Now head downhill and then turn into the next ascent after the Sogn Francestg chapel. Follow the marked mountain bike route to Siat and take the hiking trail that rides to Rueun. In the valley, you cycle along forest and country roads to Tavanasa, from where you can take the postbus back to Brigels.

The single trail on the west side of Lag da Pigniu has had an official ban on biking for some time.
I rode the tour on 14.11.2020 and unfortunately have to confirm cyclist's opinion. From Alp Dadens Sura to the top of the mountain only very difficult to ride. Due to the cows and erosion (probably no hiking trail maintenance has been done for years) the path is only passable in places. That wouldn't be so bad if the tour didn't ride almost entirely on wide gravel roads before and after. But the panorama is amazing - so if you're looking for a panoramic tour with hiking sections without trails, you've come to the right place. We enjoyed it anyway.
I rode the tour today - in reverse. Brigels-Andiast-Plaun da Tiarms-Alp Miez-Alp Sura - then it's worth the climb to the highest point at 2188 - and then over cow-meadow trails to Alp Dadens Sura. As there is a slight gradient, the trail is easier to ride in this direction. Of course, you often have to get out of the saddle, but that's no big deal. I can't agree with cyclist's comment from August 2016. The downhill from Alp Dadens Sura can be supplemented in at least two places by the locally signposted MTB route 221 with singletrails (the 1:25000 Map is helpful). Overall, it was great fun.
Sorry, but this tour is not worthy of ''RIDE tours''. More than half of the altitude difference is covered on gravel and asphalt roads. The trail from Alp Dadens Sura to the summit of the tour is not rideable, partly because of the many deep holes from cow tracks. But even without the holes, it is hardly rideable. Afterwards, approx. 900 vertical meters are covered on gravel and asphalt roads until the ascent to the Lag da Pigniu reservoir. With this record low proportion of singletrail, this tour does not belong in the RIDE tour range.
