Schwarzsee | Ride MTB

Schwarzsee

The Schwarzsee is idyllically nestled on the edge of the Bernese Oberland. However, the circuit around this lake is quite a challenge and is a singletrail tour in two sections with an idyllic start and a crisp finish.

Description

The tour starts preferably in the village of Schwarzsee and rides the first kilometer parallel to the main road out of the valley. Finally, you turn right into the Mösli district and then climb almost 600 meters in altitude on a small road up to Ättenberg. The first short singletrail descent begins, before climbing again to Salzmatt, the highest point of the tour. On a singletrail, you then reach the lower Euschelsalp via the Riggisalp and head directly to Schwarzsee Bad. For the more leisurely riders, the tour ends here by the lake or on the terrace of one of the inns.

For the others, the crisp second part is now on the agenda. Initially, you follow the official mountain bike route to Balisa, where you branch off to the right and tackle the tough climb to La Platte. The bike has to be pushed from time to time here, as well as on the following section up to Schwyberg. However, the effort is worth it, and not just because of the phenomenal view from the summit. Rather, it is the single trail descent back to Schwarzsee that gives the tour a brilliant finish.

Alternatives: End the tour in Schwarzsee Bad or start in Schwarzsee Bad first

What I don't understand about the tour is that if you ride the route from Ride, you should ride up to the Euschelspass. You can really save yourself the trouble and turn right right from the start at the alpine hut/alpine farm. After about 200 meters you reach the Euschelspass from the aforementioned alpine hut. The trail down from the pass is quite nice, but unfortunately only short. Then all the way back up to the signpost from the pass. Back to the alpine hut on the same forest path. There may be a singletrail to the left of the forest path leading down to the alpine hut (seen back at the hut this would make the whole thing a bit more enjoyable). The Schwyberg then has it all! Holy mother of all gradients and over-acidified muscle groups! Almost impossible to ride under your own steam, really very steep! In the upper third there's a tedious pushing section through a forest. (It's better to look for an alternative uphill route on the Map, it should be possible). The rest up to Schwyberg is easy to ride. The trail down is a bit challenging at the beginning but then becomes quite flowy and leads mainly over meadow terrain but then soon stops. The rest of the way down to Schwarzsee is on a forest road. So if you want to do the slog to Schwyberg, e.g. as a sporting challenge, you can do it, but in my opinion it's not worth the effort! Overall a very scenic tour. Not technically demanding. There are plenty of places to stop for refreshments thanks to the numerous alpine inns.

From my point of view, a lot of gravel for little (single) trail. There is now a general driving ban in lower Euschels.
We skipped the 2nd ascent to Schwyberg, although the descent looked more promising. No problem for ebikes, at least the first part we rode.

Beautiful tour with the super Schwyberg descent.

Is the tour really not suitable for e-bikes? Our riding technique is pretty good and we are not afraid of overcoming fences.
Would appreciate a quick answer.
