In this short documentary, which runs about three minutes, trail builders Donat and Leo take viewers on a ride along the Furka Trail. The 13-kilometer descent leads from the Furka Pass to Oberwald, offering more than 1,000 units of elevation loss against a stunning mountain backdrop.

In addition to action-packed riding scenes, the people behind the project also share their insights. Planners, trail builders, and representatives from the municipality of Obergoms explain the challenges and background of the trail’s construction. Two sections of the trail had to be extended and rebuilt due to the terrain being too steep, which caused significant erosion damage. The descent from the Furka Pass to Oberwald is one of the highlights of the regional SchweizMobil MTB route “Five Passes Bike,” which rides from Airolo to Oberwald over four daily stages. 

Good to know: Since June 20, 2026, the Furka bus line 681 has been running twice daily between Oberwald and Andermatt. Bike spaces can be conveniently reserved in advance via the SBB app.
