Those tackling the tour to Monte Confinale and Bivacco Del Piero Giampaolo should be at the top of their game in terms of fitness and trail technique. In return, one of the most scenic, alpine tours in Valtellina awaits - raw, challenging and impressive.

The area around Bormio, especially in the Sobretta group, offers countless military trails from the First World War. One of these trails is the summit trail from Monte Sobretta (3296 meters above sea level) to Santa Caterina.

The scenic and trail-technical route via the Rifugio Pizzini and then past the Forni Glacier is one of the best mountain bike routes in the Stelvio National Park.

The Rifugio Casati near the Monte Cevedale summit offers a high-alpine trail tour that leads back to the start of the glacier and to the valley floor near Santa Caterina on a technical trail.

The Pizzo di Vallumbrina (Bivacco Battaglione Skiatori Monte Ortles) is a gigantic tour that starts from Santa Catarina and takes mountain bikers to an unreal and somewhat forgotten area, from which they return with fantastic trails and incredible mountain panoramas.

From the Rifugio Pizzini you actually start to the Passo Zebrù, but the Ables high trail back to Santa Caterina offers no less singletrail riding fun.
