Fräkmünt
Description
The route starts in the center of Kriens, then rides along a small road past Himmelrich and through the Kriens Hohwald forest to Fräkmünt, the mountain station of the gondola lift. Directly above is the rocky Pilatus. We ride a little further uphill to the mountain station of the toboggan run, where the downhill trail over the Höchberg begins after a section of forest and a meadow. The long single trail leads to Chraigütsch, where you reach the edge of the forest on a gravel path and a meadow path on the right. This is where the next trail section begins, with the start somewhat hidden behind a wooden stile. The trail crosses the forest road several times and finally ends at the wooden bridge over the Ränggbach stream. A few more short sections of trail await in the forest on the right-hand side of the stream before riding back to Kriens on the cycle path.

Rode today, 7.4.24, in good, largely dry conditions (some boggy patches, but roots and stones dry).
A challenging tour that should alternate between S2 and S3. However, if you can normally ride S2 and have a powerful enduro bike, you should, like me, be able to get through with shorter pushing passages and a little courage :-) However, I would definitely not ride the tour in wet and damp conditions.
However, if you keep your eyes open, you can always avoid the fork near "Würzenmoos" (Komoot Map: "Chräigütsch") and take the trail-like paths instead of following the roads and wider paths
I think the tour is quite nice. The ascent is easy to cycle up to the last kilometer - just a bit of a bite at the end. There are a few tricky sections where you either find the start or have to dismount and push briefly.
I liked the lower part best, where the hidden trail goes through the forest.
Only encountered around 10 Red Sox on the tour. Of these, around 20-30% were of the "this is a hiking trail, not a biking trail" variety (judging by their facial expressions). Would do the tour again as it's a good mix of climbing, views, technical and flow.
I rode the descent today. Very rough at the top. I ride a Santacruz Nomad (Enduro). Rideable with good riding skills except for a few places. I didn't like it because of the enormous tracks left by the many mountain bikers and I wouldn't do it again. Hardly any flow.

For me about 95 percent was rideable, 1-2 uphills are impossible to ride, but no problem, a little pushing, plus 1-2 places that are not rideable downhill. max 30 sec pushing.
I thought it was a great tour. S3 fits the bill.
For a little insight, here is the video

Awesome video! The fucking barbed wire is still there, almost crashed into it too....
the ascent is long but easy to ride. the ramps at the end are hard but rideable with the right gears and enough power.
the trail uphill is extremely rooty on the first 300 meters and partly not rideable. almost all small climbs are covered with roots so that riding is out of the question. the gravel trail at the end is probably rideable for everyone.
would give the trail an s4 rather than an s3!
i wouldn't ride the tour again and wouldn't recommend it to others.
Can fully share the conclusion. The rooty part is 80% rideable, but it's not flowy, it's technical and exhausting. It also has its charm, but is certainly closer to S4. The second part is easy and not even at S3 level. All in all, quite nice, but also exhausting.
Hello,
I rode the tour last weekend. However, the descent in the upper part to Chraigütsch is much more difficult and technical than indicated. Compared to other tours, for example in Valais (Brazilian, Illhorn) and Aosta Valley (BeccaTrail, BanzaiTrail), the rating doesn't fit at all. Afterwards I found out that this part is marked as black on the trail map.
The rating should be adjusted here with regard to riding technique.
