Dreibündenstein
Description
From Chur, you ride over the Rossboden along the Rhine to Domat/Ems and along the golf course to the ascent towards Samun. The little road continues to Feldis. From Feldis it is another 700 meters up to the highest point. Via Plaun digl Mats you climb up to Alp di Plaun. The bike is pushed for the last 200 meters of altitude difference up to the Dreibündenstein. Then it's time for some downhill fun! A rough single trail leads along the ski lift to Alp Malix, from there on to the mountain station of the Brambrüeschbahn cable car. The trail through the steep forest terrain starts right by the transmitter antenna and only ends on the outskirts of Chur.

I rode the tour on 10/24/2014. Rigorous, but super beautiful in late autumn with the wonderful autumn colors around the Dreibündenstein. A few tips at the top of the tour: at 1960 m altitude, the track turns right to a stable. It doesn't really continue there. The path is overgrown and hard to find. It is better to continue left at the junction and follow the signs for the hiking trail to the Dreibündenstein. I then climbed this directly (bike has to be pushed/carried for a short time), which was very worthwhile. The summit is fantastic and is omitted from the original GPX on the right. On the descent, you can enjoy the new trails built by Bambrüesch.
Super tour, something for everyone ;-)
The start along the Rhine is immediately fun, then it's uphill for a very long time.
I wouldn't bother carrying the bike up the last 200 m and instead ride around the ridge on the Patricia Trail (or something similar). This ascent is extremely strenuous and the GPS track is also quite inaccurate. The first 200 m descent is not particularly exciting either.
The trail from the mountain station is great. However, after a few kilometers a trail is indicated here that is very overgrown and almost unrecognizable. As it's not a hiking trail either, I stayed on the right trail and the routes come together again further down.
All in all, a beautiful trail descent and a great scenic tour!
Were out and about on parts of this tour today - from approx. 1170m (Känzeli) downwards, the trail is reserved for hikers and in the interests of peaceful coexistence between hikers and bikers, this should also be respected.
From Känzeli there are two trails 707 and 708 which offer enough fun but are currently (June 1, 2020) partially closed. However, you can find a connected trail (sections of both trails) into the valley even if the closures are observed.
(1) It is advantageous to leave the trail from Brambrüsch and use the bike park.
(2) You have to leave the trail from 1480.m at the latest - then a partly exposed crossing to Känzeli is possible.

best regards - Tom from Zurich
(and no, I have nothing to do with the bike park, but I care a lot about my great hobby and fair cooperation - thanks for an update on the tour)
