Lac de Mauvoisin
Description
From Le Châble, take the postbus to the start of the tour in Mauvoisin. Through a tunnel, you first reach the dam wall and later the long valley with the embedded lake. Follow the alpine road to the end of the lake and then climb up to the Cabane de Chanrion. The fantastic scenery is a perfect opportunity for a stopover before taking the hiking trail back to the lake and then the same route as the outward journey to Mauvoisin. Instead of taking the postbus back to Le Châble, you now tackle the ride out of the valley under your own steam. The descent starts with a singletrail and you follow the road to the power station at Fionnay, where another singletrail begins just below the dam wall. Follow the hiking trail signs to Lourtier and then cycle back to Le Châble on country roads.
Alternatives: The route from Cabanne de Chanrion via Tsofeiret to Mauvoisin is not recommended for mountain bikers.

At the moment you can't get to Mauvoisin by post bus. Plan the tour from Le Châble, i.e. a longer journey by road.
A beautiful, eventful tour with a single trail that is not very rideable. Can only confirm the opinion of Urs68: The only longer singletrail section from Cabane Chanrion down to the reservoir was also largely unrideable for us, as the narrow trail is buried too deep in the meadow for long stretches and you simply get stuck with both pedals without a chance. Top riders may be able to find a track to the right and left of the steep, rocky meadow. However, the route to the hut is quite rustic and therefore not boring. The long tunnel passages along the lake are exciting. Every few meters there is a window to the lake, which makes things quite interesting. 2x an underground torrent shoots through the tunnel underneath you, which then pours into the lake in a spectacular waterfall. Quite something. Cabane Chanrion is tip-top with delicious food, friendly hosts and the best views.
A fantastic tour in terms of scenery. The hiking trail from the Cabane de Chanrion down to the reservoir is quite technical and probably corresponds to 3 to 4 points and not 2 as indicated.
