Monte Bisbino
Description
From Chiasso train station, you pass the national border, then keep left, pass the large customs area by the highway and roll through the village of Cernobbio. This is where the long asphalt ascent to Monte Bisbino begins. You pass Rovenna, Monti Scarone and Monti Madrona. During the ascent, you have an excellent view of Lake Como, as well as at the summit, from where you can see far into the Po Valley. The descent begins at the parking lot on the north side of Monte Bisbino and rides down to Alp Cavazzo on a single trail that is not always clear at first. The route now follows the ridge downhill to Pizzo Meda, where there are a few meters of steep singletrail ascent to master. They are worth it, however, as they lead to the start of the descent down to Vacallo. The trail is a real fun ride and ends at the first houses in the suburb of Chiasso. You return to the starting point on local roads.

Below Ul Praa Pian, the trial is no longer passable due to storm wood. It doesn't look like this will change any time soon. The damage is spread over almost the entire descent.
Here you can see my report from the Bisbino Tour.

So something can't be right with the RIDE's elevation gain of 1555 meters. At the end of the tour we had between 1120 & 1160 meters of altitude on our GPS. Be sure to ride straight on at Pizzo Meda until you reach the viewpoint. There is no trail down to the right. Then turn back onto the original route. From here it is only for very good bikers who know how to shift the rear wheel and can ride very steep passages. The others run down a few hairpin bends here. The tour becomes more and more challenging the closer you get to Chiasso.
We rode the tour today, including the "black" part discussed here. This is easy to find using Topo Switzerland (maps.geo.admin.ch), but it turned out to be a fun, fast S0-S1 trail. Back on the ride track before Pizzo Meda, we realized that the upper part, which should turn off to the right shortly before Pizzo Meda, was overgrown. We then rode straight on over Pizzo Meda for about 500 m (fun S2) until, at another viewpoint and a railing on the right, an S1-S2 trail with hardly any gradient leads back to the ride track after about another 500 m. This trail is rather steep at first. This is rather steep at the beginning with tight hairpin bends and a few steps, then becomes a little tamer before it offers a few more elevated S3 passages and tight bends further down. All in all, a fun and varied descent.
If you arrive by car, you can easily find a parking space a little above Chiasso and save a few meters in altitude that you will have to make up later on asphalt anyway.
Hello noiyriver
Thanks for your comment. Can you get in touch with me via solca@gmx.ch
And maybe send me your GPS track. We want to ride the tour next weekend.
Greetings
Thanks for the info. Yes, I'm also excited to see what's in store for us in May 2019.
Has anyone ridden this tour yet?
The trail from Monte Bisbino to Pizzo Meda is the red trail on the right in the ride. But there is another black trail almost on the border between Italy and Switzerland. At the end these two trails come together. Does anyone know this black trail? Is it rideable? Thanks for your answers.
Hello
I couldn't find the entrance to the black trail, even though I had planned it. I couldn't even come close to recognizing a trail. But where the two trails come together, there is actually a trail that rides "uphill". But I didn't ride it back, maybe next time, Easter is just around the corner :-). Unfortunately I can't write much about this tour up to Bisbino, I rode the tour via Bellavista, Balduana, Muggio, Cabbio, Bonello, Prabello, Binate, Colma del Bugone.
I am curious
