Mosnang - Schnebelhorn | Ride MTB

Mosnang - Schnebelhorn

This relatively short but beautiful tour rides from Mühlrüti and Mosnang on the north side of the Schnebelhorn.

Description

From Mosnang, you reach the village of Mühlrüti at the foot of the Hulftegg via Friedlingen and Dreien on asphalt country roads. Instead of taking the pass road, we reach Hulftegg from the north (via Bechtenwald), the well-known transition from the Töss Valley to Toggenburg. From here you climb up a forest road to Älpli and on to Roten. Now a rooted trail rides to Hirzegg and, following the ridge, you reach the Schnebelhorn via alpine paths and single trails. The bike has to be pushed or carried the last few meters to the summit. At 1291 meters above sea level, the Schnebelhorn is the highest point in the canton of Zurich. From the summit, we follow the steep hiking trail southwards for a few meters until the trail to Meiersalp branches off to the left. This technically challenging ridge trail takes you back to Mosnang via Schlosshöchi.

Alternative: Ascent from Dreien instead of via Hulftegg directly to Hirzegg (steep)

For single trail lovers, stay left at the junction at point 1009 (Rachlis), after the Schlosshöchi turn right down across the meadow to the turnstile into the forest and follow the trail to Mosnang.

Please note that the map shows the route in the opposite direction.
