Rothorn-Churwalden-Chur

Parpaner Rothorn (Lenzerheide)

The route from Parpaner Rothorn to Chur is considered one of the legendary mountain bike descents in Graubünden and is the original route of the Bike-Attack. There are almost 2300 meters of altitude between the summit and the Grisons capital, which can be combined with many single trails.

Description

The start of the descent is at the Rothornbahn mountain station. The first section leads through the large rock arena to the avalanche gallery, through which you reach Gredigs Fürggli. Continue downhill, always following the officially signposted mountain bike route (BIke Attack - 611). Before Alp Scharmoin, however, you turn off to the right and follow the high-level trail to Obersäss. You are once again on an official mountain bike route, this time on Runda Lai (602). This rides downhill from Obersäss on an alpine road, you turn left, tackle a short section on a mountain road, but then soon turn right again and continue to follow the Runda Lai tour. You pass the Mittelberg housing estate, ride downhill for a while on an alpine road and then branch off to the right for a short ascent on an alpine road. At Vargan, leave the signposted mountain bike route and head for the first-class singletrail descent to Grida. Follow the hiking trail markings to reach Passugg. The old footpath to Chur begins below the village and forms the brilliant final section of this route. At the bottom of the valley, you roll along the district road into the center of Chur.

I started in Tschuggen at 1675 meters above sea level and it was a great descent!
