Urnerboden

On the eastern side of the Klausen Pass, in the face of the Clariden, lies the Urnerboden. This is the starting point for the short but excellent mountain bike tour to the Fisetenpass.

Description

From Urnerboden, you climb along a small alpine road on the north side of the high valley up to Alp Vorder Orthalten. The route now continues to the Fisetenpass with its excellent panorama of the Clariden Glacier and the Glarus Alps. Now head downhill to the Gemsfairenhüttli and through the Chlustrittli to the Klausenpass road. Follow this downhill for a few meters until you turn right immediately afterwards and take the historic serpentine road via Jägerbalm back to Urnerboden.
Note: Most of the route is signposted as an official mountain bike route (Route 415).

We did this tour 2 weeks ago and the description is very different from the actual tour.
Up to the Fiseten Pass, you ride steadily uphill, with only the upper part being very strenuous; at the top, it gets so steep at times that the bike has to be pushed a few meters. But the mega beautiful panorama makes up for the effort.
From the top station of the cable car, the only way back down to the valley is on a gravel road that is apparently quite new. There are no trails at the top. The road looked very new. But even here you have a great panorama throughout, which perhaps mitigates the lack of trails.

When you get back to the Klausen Pass road, the last stretch back to Urnerboden is "finally" on trails. The trails are nice, partly on an old military road, which somehow gives you goose bumps. But anyone looking for great trail fun will unfortunately be very disappointed on this tour.
For those who simply want to be outdoors in a unique environment or are new to biking, this tour is highly recommended.
