In 2015, Lenzerheide hosted a World Cup event for the first time. The highlight to date came in 2018 with the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships: 55 nations, over 65,000 spectators, and a TV audience of 46 million—all record figures for a Mountain Bike World Championship.

Nino Schurter’s seventh world title in front of his home crowd remains unforgettable. The chants of “Nino, Nino, Nino” became the soundtrack of an entire era and could be heard once again in 2025 during his emotional farewell from the World Cup stage.

Swiss Power for the Anniversary Edition

For the Anniversary Edition X, the focus is on the strong Swiss team. Dario Lillo, who secured a U23 double victory in Lenzerheide in 2023, celebrated his first Elite World Cup win on May 3, 2026, in South Korea—his form is on the rise, and a home victory in the Bike Kingdom is within reach. Sina Frei and Alessandra Keller also got off to a strong start in the 2026 season. Keller won the cross-country race in Lenzerheide in 2025, while Frei recently secured a World Cup double victory in South Korea. The chances of further Swiss successes in front of a home crowd are good.

More than just racing

Over the years, a festival has emerged around the World Cup that combines sport, community, and culture. New this year: Under the motto “StreetART meets Bike World Cup,” a large-scale live artwork by five artists is being created in the Event Village as a lasting tribute to ten editions. “The Anniversary Edition X is not just an anniversary—it’s a thank you to everyone who made this journey possible,” says OC President Christoph Müller.
