With the second generation of the Extra, Arc8 have landed an exciting new take on a versatile mountain bike. An eye-catching and relatively delicate frame that can do everything from a light tourer to a rough bike park racer. Ride was allowed to test ride the new bike in the enduro version with steel suspension and MX wheel setup.

In 2019, Arc8 presented the "Extra" enduro bike. Now the Swiss brand is presenting the further development of this bike. The Extra 2.0 comes with a strikingly filigree, lightweight but robust carbon frame with a Dual Pivot suspension system, in which a slider replaces the previous linkage. It comes as a twentyniner with 160 or as a mullet with up to 180 millimetres of suspension travel and thus covers several areas of use.

The Swiss brand Arc8 is launching a down-country hammer, or rather a cross-country bike based on its own approach for today's demands. The Evolve FS comes with 110 millimetres of rear suspension travel, an unusual slider suspension system and an unusual geometry with an amazingly light weight.

The shepherd's crook in the coats of arms of villages and towns in the Basel region is known as the Baslerstab. But that is now a thing of the past: the Baslerstab is now a mountain bike handlebar with a unique clamp on the fork steerer tube that puts the stem out to pasture. The handlebars were of course invented by a Basel native.

Arc8? Never heard of it? Quite possibly. The Swiss brand is just one year old and has a small but fine MTB range. Behind Arc8 are two resourceful people from Basel. One of them has been working as a bike engineer in Taiwan for years. Ride has chased their enduro machine "Extra" over local trails.
