It all began 100 years ago with a ski wax, the first in the world. In a small company in Ditzingen near Stuttgart, which its founder Dr. Max Fischer would later name HOLMENKOL. This company has long since developed from a winter sports specialist into an internationally active year-round expert. In spring 2022, HOLMENKOL presents new care products for bikes. Not only the bike, but also the athletes will be well cared for. Everything "Made in Germany". That hasn't changed at HOLMENKOL since 1922.

HOLMENKOL means passion for sport - for 100 years. This is the DNA from which the company is built. Company founder Dr. Max Fischer lived for ski jumping and invented the world's first ski wax to make skiers faster and fly further. Many innovations followed, HOLMENKOL celebrated Olympic victories and world championship titles with skiers, cross-country skiers and biathletes - the high-performance waxes made an important contribution to their successes. However, the company's passion has long gone far beyond winter sports. It has developed products that support athletes worldwide - HOLMENKOL is represented in over 50 countries - in summer and winter so that they can concentrate fully on their passion. The range includes textile impregnation and detergents as well as care products for shoes. HOLMENKOL presents a high-quality collection for the bike sector in particular. New products will be added in spring 2022.

Care not only for bikes, but also for athletes

HOLMENKOL has been established in the bike segment for several years. The products increase the service life of the bike and the enjoyment of the sport. These include effective chain waxes, chain oils and lubricating oils for spraying on all components, which provide long-lasting care, repel dirt and water and thus effectively protect against wear and corrosion. The collection also includes cleaners, including the high-performance Natural Bike Wash for all paint finishes, which is biodegradable.

HOLMENKOL is now expanding its line to include care products for mountain bikers themselves. This includes Chamois Cream, the new buttock cream based on deer tallow. It acts like a second skin, making painful chafing and pressure points as well as chafed skin a thing of the past. HOLMENKOL has also developed a regeneration cream. The balm cools and revitalizes tired and tense legs after heavy exertion. It promotes the regeneration process and also cares for the skin thanks to natural ingredients such as aloe vera and herbal extracts. The body care line for bikers:inside also includes sun cream: the water-repellent Sun Control Pine & Mint with sun protection factor 30 has a pleasant scent of mountain pine and mint.

Made in Germany: 90 percent produced in our own factory

The all-season expert HOLMENKOL is not only represented in the bike sector today. The company has also made a name for itself with care products for functional textiles and footwear, including waterproofing and special detergents. All "Made in Germany". At HOLMENKOL, this means that 90 percent of its products are produced in its own factory near Münster/North Rhine-Westphalia, while the company is based in Ludwigsburg near Stuttgart. This is where it implements what is reflected in its products: HOLMENKOL, the world's first eco-certified ski wax manufacturer and producer of the patented Natural Skiwax collection with an organic label, focuses on sustainability.

Saving resources, avoiding waste

Environmental awareness starts with production. Green electricity and our own photovoltaic system provide clean energy. HOLMENKOL also works consistently to save electricity, waste, CO2 and water. "We have to conserve our resources in order to protect our environment," says Florian Pupp, Product Manager at HOLMENKOL. This also applies to packaging in particular. "We are working flat out to ensure that we present 100% of our environmentally friendly products in environmentally friendly packaging." Plastic is gradually being replaced and the proportion of recyclate, i.e. plastic that has already been recycled at least once, is increasing continuously. "We supply products for sport in nature. We take responsibility for this nature," says Timo Fleischmann, Business Director at HOLMENKOL, emphasizing the importance of environmental protection.

The responsibility towards the environment is expressed in many HOLMENKOL products, e.g. in the Natural series, which is biodegradable in accordance with OECD 301 and bears the organic label - a unique selling point on the market. The Natural principle also includes numerous care products. For example, the Textile Wash Natural Capsules are dissolvable detergent capsules - also unique in the sports retail sector. The Natural Proof spray-on impregnation also guarantees waterproofness without fluorine. HOLMENKOL has developed the biodegradable Natural Active Wax for the sustainable, high-quality care of all hiking and outdoor shoes. With all these products, the company is facing up to current and future challenges. "Each of us can and must make our contribution to preserving the wonderful natural environment in which we enjoy being active," emphasizes Timo Fleischmann. "We want to set a good example here."
