On May 1, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. the time has come: Crankworx Innsbruck starts ticket pre-sales. In four weeks, Crankworx will celebrate mountain biking for the seventh time in the capital of the Alps. After the Crankworx World Tour stops in New Zealand and Australia, Innsbruck will be in the spotlight of the local and international mountain bike community in June.

The Hofwald Trail has been in the headlines for weeks, and not because it's so great to ride. First, a particularly loud opposition politician stopped the construction of the approved trail. Then the city and operator found a new solution so that the Hofwald Trail could be finished and completed for the time being. It is now closed until the alternative route is ready to ride.

In the middle of construction, Innsbruck's deputy mayor wants to have the approved line of the Hofwald Trail changed. This is because an opposition politician was successful with his campaign against the trail. However, two weeks after construction was halted, a solution has been found, at least for the time being, and the trail has been in operation since Friday. But only on a trial basis.

The Hofwald Trail in the west of Innsbruck was originally due to open this year. Following a scandal over a new route, the project has now come under considerable criticism from the local mountain bike community. The opening of the trail this year is no longer realistic.

The new Stadtwald Trail should have been opened in Innsbruck these days. The celebration last week was canceled, officially due to bad weather. The unofficial reason: the mountain bikers refused to take part because the same city authorities were cracking down on them on other trails and ordering the police to issue buses.

After the Hungerburgbahn refused to transport downhillers in Innsbruck at the beginning of May, public transport is now following suit: Innsbruck's public transport company is now banning downhillers from traveling anywhere in the city.

The air is thick in Innsbruck: after a mountain biker assaulted cable car staff twice, the Hungerburgbahn will not be transporting downhillers in May. The background to the scandal is the massive increase in the number of mountain bikers, which the cable cars can no longer cope with. Some see the Crankworx festival as the trigger for this.

This summer, the Crankworx spectacle took place in Innsbruck for the first time - and the prologue is being continued. The event has been moved forward in terms of dates, which is why even more pro teams can be expected in Innsbruck from June 13 to 17, 2018 due to the better location in the international downhill racing calendar.
