Genoa is a hidden gem for enduro riders, not far from the hustle and bustle of Finale Ligure. Participants in the Red Bull Cerro Abajo race ride the port city’s most exclusive trail—a city downhill course that winds through narrow alleys, over staircases, and flies right across entire streets. It’s pure spectacle on paths that are otherwise unrideable.

What until now has been more of a theoretical nightmare scenario for the mountain bike scene will soon become reality in places like Finale: from 2026, mountain bikers in Liguria will have to buy an access ticket for trails as a contribution to financing trail maintenance. Particularly controversial: only out-of-town bikers are affected, while hikers and locals are not.

The urban downhill racing series "Cerro Abajo" has so far mainly been held in Latin America. Now organizer Red Bull is announcing an edition in Genoa.
