Each Chain Lube Eco Box can save over forty 120-milliliter plastic bottles for squirt applicators. The hard cardboard exterior of the box is prominently branded, includes a pricing chart for 50, 120 and 500 milliliter refills and is designed to be placed on a sales or workshop counter. Inside is a soft pouch containing 5 liters of Squirt Chain Lube, which contains a wax and water emulsion, is clean, biodegradable, suitable for all bikes and conditions and PFAS-free. The Chain Lube Eco Box also features a tap and nozzle large enough to allow quick refills but small enough to fit into the opening of the Squirt Chain Lube applicator bottles. This ensures a leak-proof refill.

One of the key features of Squirt Chain Lube is that it is PFAS-free. The unique blend of biodegradable waxes combined with the emulsification technology used in the formulation makes for a very stable, more environmentally friendly product with a long-lasting lubricating effect. Conventional lubricants and many other chain lubricants use per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) due to their low friction properties. These chemicals are extremely resistant to biodegradation and have been shown to accumulate in groundwater, soil and even the human body. The unique waxes in Squirt Chain Lube act as friction-reducing additives, without the negative effects associated with PFAS chemicals.

"Our Squirt Chain Lube is biodegradable, but the plastic bottles we currently use are not," admits Danie van Wyk, Director of Squirt Cycling Products. "This doesn't suit us and we had to find a way to reduce the number of single-use plastic bottles we are responsible for. While plastic technology is improving, the simplest solution right now is to allow cyclists and bike mechanics to reuse their plastic bottles."
