Ride N° 77 - April 2022

The exotic rhythm is provided by the extraordinary bike trip to the national parks of South Africa. And the profound lyrics are provided by the reports on trail activists in the cities and on how the traditional Alpine clubs deal with the no longer so new sport of mountain biking. All in all, the April issue of Ride sets the tone for the 2022 season.

Mountain lakes characterize the tour reports on the Col du Jorat and Lago Saoseo. For the former, the route leads from Martigny up towards the Dents du Midi, where the Lac de Salanfe with its dam wall invites you to enjoy some unusual riding. Lago Saosao, high above Poschiavo, is a completely different story. Nestled in a lovely and unspoiled high valley, it is considered one of the most beautiful mountain lakes in the Alps. The third tour story in the magazine is a completely different story, in which the legendary single trails of Freiburg in the Black Forest are put to the test. The necessary pinch of wanderlust is provided by a trip to the national parks of South Africa, where wild animals form the backdrop to the bike trails: Cheetahs, lions, elephants, zebras, hippos, giraffes - you're never closer to them than on a mountain bike.

Ride is also staying true to itself in terms of background reports this year. In the April issue, Ride dived into the cities and visited the bike activists who spend all their free time fighting for more and better bike trails in the conurbations. In addition, there is an in-depth story on how traditional Alpine clubs such as the DAV, SAC and ÖAV should and can deal with the sport of mountain biking.

But the April issue has even more to offer. Bike and accessory tests are of course just as much a part of it as the varied lounge or the photo series by selected photographers. And what was true for all previous issues of Ride is no different here: above-average quality pictures, a loving design and a varied lounge with lots of interesting and unusual news from the world of mountain biking.
