Trais Fluors

Höhenweg Alp Munt, Engadin St. Moritz

The tour to Trais Fluors high above Celerina is an unparalleled singletrail firework display. The ascent is steep and tough - but could largely be mastered by train - but the descent to Samedan, including the little-known trail from Alp Muntatsch, offers unparalleled flow fun.

Description

The tour starts in Celerina with the ascent on a gravel road up to the transmission tower. This is the starting point of a singletrail section over to Chantarella, where the second part of the ascent begins. This leads over a small road, then turns into a gravel path and finally becomes a steep alpine path up to the Corviglia mountain station. Incidentally, you can save yourself the climb by taking the Marguns cable car first. From the Marguns mountain station, you first ride down on a gravel road to the transmission tower and then over the singletrail section to Chantarella. The ascent from here is tough enough: after the traverse to the Lej Alv reservoir, there is a singletrail ascent up to the mountain station of the Trais Fluors. Fit bikers master this almost completely by riding, most others get off their bikes at some point and push up to the hill with the wonderful view. Once again, however, there are a few more meters of altitude to master, this time on the mountain path over to the ridge, which is reminiscent of a kind of lunar landscape. And right through the middle of this is an agile fun trail that leads down to the high trail over to Alp Muntatsch. The trail is so much fun to ride that the fantastic panorama of the Upper Engadin and the glaciated Bernina massif is sometimes lost. The brilliant final bouquet awaits at Alp Munt: Follow the gravel road for a few meters, then turn left and shortly afterwards head onto an old single trail that was opened up especially for mountain bikers in June 2016. This fun trail rides to the edge of the forest on the valley floor between Bever and Samedan. You return to Celerina via Samedan on gravel roads or further down along the main road.

The tour is just great, especially the descent from the Trais Fluors. The ascent to Cna Saluver is in progress. Many thanks to the trail builders - it will be a very attractive ascent.

There are people who can never be satisfied ... An absolute "must" in the Upper Engadine - simply fun and largely unspoilt !!! - Take a look: https://youtu.be/SSe2w1aGMxY

We did the tour on an e-bike. It was easy for us to ride. You could also take the wide trail from Corvilia to the uphill. Many people probably ride the uphil trail. Bio bikers don't ride it completely and push it a few times. We with the e-bike, just put the trail mode in and then a lot is rideable. The trail as already described is great.

Did the tour today. What more could a biker's heart want. The ascent was tough and for us also involved pushing passages. But it's worth it, the view is simply magnificent. The trail up to Alp Muntatsch is very flowy and was great fun. From Alp Muntatsch it's off into the forest. Super trail to finish up to Acla.

Defacing the trail"? "Flow trail"? I've been riding this tour since at least 2014, nothing has been "destroyed" or "defaced" here, as my two previous commentators suggest. As far as I know, this trail has always been a hiking trail, and we bikers use it together with the hikers. In between (under the Piz Padella) you can ride a bit, but the trail is still a singletrail that's fun, it also has hairpin bends, and the panorama is fantastic. In my opinion, only "Ride" needs to improve: the brilliant final bouquet, which really shakes you up in the Swiss stone pine forest, doesn't start at Alp Munt (a hiking trail goes down there), but shortly afterwards at Alp Muntatsch. Apart from that, I can only say one thing: Ride's description characterizes the trail perfectly. Try it out for yourself and don't let naysayers spoil the fun before the ride.

Great tour with singletrail ascent from the Lej Alv reservoir to Trais Fluors, then a great descent to the Munt da la Bês-cha junction to Marguns or on to Samedan. As already described in other comments, the route towards Samedan is a disaster, unfortunately not really worthwhile. I have no idea how you manage to deface a path like this. Then alternatively down towards Marguns and back up to Corviglia and then down the WM or Olympia Trail.

Tough but beautiful ascent and then approx. 150m trail. The rest of the trail was unfortunately destroyed. First it is an absolutely leveled path ("flow trail" without waves, steep wall curves or jumps) and then a gravel path. The only hiking trail on the way has a new bike ban. It is therefore absolutely no longer worthwhile.
A similar tour is also still listed on the St. Moitz website. From my point of view, this is deliberate fraud to sell tickets. They know that there is no longer a trail and list it as a cool trail on the homepage.

I found the marked trail from Alp Muntatsch down to Acla (end at the Vitaparcours) well worthwhile. The trail doesn't seem particularly well known, but offers a crisp finish.

I find this route guidance according to the GPX track a bit strange. I'm not familiar with the area, but at Lej Alv, for example, the route rides right across the lake. Is there a ferry there or was the route made when the lake was frozen over?

We rode the official trail from the Bahnentour. The end of the Bahnentour variant is really no good. I hope this variant is better. Why don't the Bahnentour organizers adapt their tour?

So for all "non-Bähnli bikers" I recommend riding from Celerina via Marguns. The detour to Chantarella is pointless and the road to Corviglia is up to 28% steep.
Then the descent... Someone has made the trail in the middle section worse by shoveling it into a wheelchair-accessible path. A shame, but a familiar trend in recent years. I wonder what I'm supposed to do there with 150mm of suspension travel. What a shame :-(
However, the final trail to Samaden is worthwhile!

Checked 2018

Many thanks to the municipality of Samedan for the new official trail from Alp Muntasch down to Samedan. It's first class!!! Joy reigns :-)
