Find the right trails: Intelligent navigation with the smart system
“Where are the best trails? What level of difficulty can I expect? How can I best combine trails on a ride?” Especially on vacation or during trips away from your home trails, the smart system from Bosch eBike Systems helps with the “MTB Trails” map view in the e-Bike Flow app. The app shows nearby mountain bike trails, classified by difficulty level: from easy (blue) to challenging (black). This feature serves as a guide—and is a huge help when planning a new tour.
All your data at a glance while on the go: display, app, and bike computer
Once you’re out on the trail, you naturally want to know whether you’ve already conquered the toughest climb or how many meters of elevation gain still lie ahead. For some time now, displays like the Kiox 300 or 500 have been providing important information directly while riding—such as elevation profile, speed, or linked training data like heart rate.
Now, the e-bike can also be connected to GPS devices and, in the future, other third-party tracking devices, such as select Garmin Edge bike computers. This allows metrics such as speed, cadence, rider performance, or battery level to be displayed in real time.
As a result, the e-bike becomes an even more integral part of a rider’s personal digital setup—and riders can use exactly the device that best suits their riding style. At the same time, they retain control over which data is transmitted at all times.
More performance on the trail—when it counts
When riding powerfully on steep trails, clearing high steps, or pedaling through tight, technical turns, Bosch’s smart system with the Performance Upgrade 2.0 delivers even more torque and assistance. Using the E-Bike Flow app, sporty riders can increase the torque of the Performance Line CX and Performance Line CX-R to up to 120 Newton-meters in any riding mode. In addition, the maximum assistance can be increased: up to 600 percent assistance is provided in specific riding situations at speeds of up to 15 km/h.
What this means on the trail: the long stretch of roots, the challenging exit from a hairpin turn, the sudden steep drop-off after crossing a stream—it’s precisely at these key points that the intelligent riding software delivers full power—in a highly situational and precisely controlled manner. The prerequisite is dynamic pedaling effort: Riders who briefly increase their input receive a decisive power boost from the system and are rewarded with new riding achievements. Immediately afterward, the system returns to an efficient power level. This intelligent, short-term power surge reduces wear and tear—particularly on the chain, cassette, and freewheel—and maximizes range.
And that’s not all:
- Extended Boost provides targeted assistance in overcoming obstacles with a follow-through impulse and is customizable. This allows you to adjust the setup in any assistance mode to suit your personal preferences.
- Whether you’re cruising elegantly through a turn on the rear wheel or taking your next jump a little further—with the new Trick Check feature, every successful move becomes an experience. The sensors automatically detect jumps, wheelies, manuals, or stoppies, record duration, height, distance, or angle, and confirm success with an audible signal. After your ride, the eBike Flow app displays all your personal bests at a glance.
Range Control: Better battery planning thanks to AI
Finding the right trails and enjoying them to the fullest is one thing—getting back to the starting point is another. On long eMountainbike tours, the question often arises: “Will the battery last?” This is where Bosch’s smart system with the AI feature “Range Control” comes in: It shows how much battery life is expected to remain at the destination, taking into account factors such as system weight, elevation profile, and riding behavior from recent rides. The forecast also updates while you’re riding. To eliminate any remaining range anxiety, you can set the desired battery level at your destination, which the system will then maintain. The app shows whether the route can be ridden with full, low, or minimal assistance, and adjusts motor assistance on the fly even within each riding mode.
