Diversity on two wheels: Five routes for every skill level
From challenging marathon distances to relaxed e-mountain bike tours: Five carefully designed routes lead through diverse alpine landscapes—past dense forests, over scenic mountain passes, and through picturesque valleys. Each route combines athletic challenge with the enjoyment of nature and offers new perspectives on the Montafon. Young riders are also welcome to join the fun and gain their first mountain biking experiences in the Kids Challenge.
Sporting highlights for every level
The M³ route, covering 75 kilometers and 2,500 meters of elevation gain, is the queen stage of the M³ Montafon Mountain Bike Marathon and demands endurance, technical riding skills, and mental strength. The M² route, covering 60 kilometers and 2,050 meters of elevation gain, combines demanding climbs with fast downhill sections, while the M¹ route, covering 45 kilometers and 1,300 meters of elevation gain, demands concentration, technique, and stamina over a compact distance. All routes ride varied terrain: technically challenging trails alternate with smooth flow sections and are nestled within the impressive Montafon mountain landscape.
Full of energy on e-bikes
Those who want to explore the Montafon at a leisurely pace with electric assistance can choose from two varied e-bike tours and discover the mountain world in a particularly relaxed way. The nearly 43-kilometer leisurely loop with approximately 1,400 meters of elevation gain offers impressive views of the Rätikon, Verwall, and Silvretta ranges, combined with culinary highlights: appetizer at Alpe Nova, main course at 2,000 meters above sea level at Nova Stoba, and dessert at Vermalawirt. Panoramic views, regional specialties, and mountain idylls make this tour an enjoyable experience for all the senses.
The nearly 37-kilometer-long mining tour, with an elevation gain of around 1,200 meters, combines physical activity with regional history. Stops such as the Montafon Mining Museum in Silbertal, the St. Agatha Chapel on the Kristberg, the Panoramagasthof Kristberg, and the historic mine in Bartholomäberg turn the tour into a small cultural journey through time.&
Focus on the next generation: Kids Challenge
On Friday, July 31, 2026, the Kids Challenge kicks off at 1:00 p.m. in St. Gallenkirch. The program features technical courses, age-appropriate cross-country loops, and the new pump track at Silvretta Park Montafon—ideal for all children aged five to 14 to hone their skills and gain their first competitive experience. An action-packed mountain bike afternoon full of fun, exercise, and adventure awaits the young riders.
Genuss Fäscht: Music, Culinary Delights, and a Festive Atmosphere
Celebrations continue off the trail at the M³ Montafon Mountain Bike Marathon: The popular Genuss Fäscht on the church square in Schruns invites visitors to linger on Friday and Saturday. With regional specialties and a cozy atmosphere, a varied music program ensures a great vibe. On Friday, the band Extra4 will get the party started from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and on Saturday, Gerold Burtscher will perform live at the same time. The food and beverage stands are open on Friday from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM and on Saturday from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM—ideal conditions for a delightful conclusion to the sporting adventures.
Strong Together
Without the dedication of numerous clubs, volunteers, and landowners, the M³ Montafon Mountain Bike Marathon would be unthinkable. “Local support makes all the difference. Without it, the event wouldn’t be possible,” emphasizes Alexander Stergiotis, co-organizer from the Mountain Bike Club Montafon, expressing his gratitude to everyone involved. Under the motto “Ghörig Feschta,” the M³ Montafon Mountain Bike Marathon remains committed to sustainability in 2026: reusable tableware, bio-based beverage bottles, regional prizes, reusable materials, consistent waste separation, and much more ensure a respectful approach to nature and resources. In this way, top athletic performance, community, and environmental awareness come together to create a well-rounded event experience.
M³ Montafon continues to evolve
This year, the M³ Montafon Mountain Bike Marathon will take place as usual, building on its proven track record of success. In 2027, a deliberate creative hiatus will follow to allow for a realignment with a clear focus on the future: Starting in 2028, the focus will be on innovations, new ideas, and the further development of the event format.
