Muc-Off Dark Energy Chain Wax

With the new Dark Energy Chain Wax, Muc-Off is launching a chain wax that many have been waiting for. The next-generation liquid wax is designed to offer the ideal balance of efficiency, durability, and low wear—for a clean, fast, and quiet drive.

Dark Energy was developed for road, gravel, and mountain bikes. The product is the result of four years of development work at the Muc-Off R&D Lab and extensive testing with professional teams. Over 90 different formulas were developed and tested – with more than 8,500 hours of laboratory and machine testing and over 100,000 kilometers ridden under real-world conditions. The developers' goal was clear: to create a liquid wax that runs efficiently, lasts a long time, and reduces wear on the drivetrain. This combination in particular is considered a major challenge. Extensive testing in the laboratory and on the track enabled the formula to be optimized step by step. The wax has also already proven itself in racing: Swiss professional cyclist Noemi Rüegg used Dark Energy chain wax in her overall victory in the WorldTour race Tour Down Under in January 2026.

Clean drive with less maintenance

The wax formula is based on highly refined waxes. A dry protective layer forms on the chain, repelling dirt and dust. The result: a particularly clean-running drive with less friction, less noise, and reduced wear.

Dark Energy is optimized for dry, dusty, and slightly damp conditions and is equally suitable for road, gravel, and MTB use. At the same time, the wax is designed to deliver maximum efficiency thanks to low friction—an advantage for anyone who values performance and speed.

New cleaner for wax drives

To go with the new chain wax, Muc-Off is also launching Chain Wax Cleaner. The cleaner was specially developed for wax-based drives and removes factory grease, oil residues, and old wax layers—without leaving any residue that could impair the adhesion of the wax.
