Attention, ready, automatic: Pinion ups the ante

Pinion has already caused a sensation with the motor gearbox unit, or MGU for short, and a long overdue innovation: the motor and gearshift form a single unit. Semi-automatic shifting is already included in the range of functions, but the existing MGUs can be set to automatic via an update.

From summer 2024, Pinion's MGU will feature fully automatic gear changes. The new automatic system will be able to change gear at lightning speed in any situation, even under full pedal load. Pinion will be presenting full details of the revised Smart.Shift shifting technology at Eurobike in Frankfurt at the beginning of July.

All owners of a bike with an MGU will benefit from the new automatic shifting system. The Smart.Shift feature will also be available free of charge via a software update at the dealer for all existing MGU e-bikes in the third quarter of 2024.
