In 2006, Ride published a major report on the Walensee Trail. The trail directly below the Churfirsten mountains is one of the most spectacular and beautiful routes in Eastern Switzerland. As a result, the authorities imposed a ban on biking on the trail. However, pressure from tourism has now led to a turnaround: The trail has been an officially signposted bike route since this year.

While the construction of freeride trails and bike parks is booming throughout Switzerland, one of the traditional bike parks has had to announce its demise. Sportbahnen Filzbach filed for bankruptcy at the end of March. The company sees no possibility of continuing to operate the mountain railroads and therefore also the bike park.

A new mountain bike map has recently been published for Glarus and Heidiland. The "Swiss Singletrail Map Glarus-Heidiland" covers a 960-kilometre network of trails for mountain bikers and stretches from Sargans via Glarus almost as far as the Klausen Pass. At the same time, the map sheets for the cantons of Basel, Solothurn and Aargau have been completely revised. Like all "Swiss Singletrail Maps", they are printed at a scale of 1:50'000 on special tear- and waterproof paper.

The Bikepark Filzbach is entering its second season. After a successful start, the bike park high above Lake Walen will be open again from May 13. One week after opening, the operators invite you to "ride'n'chill", the official opening of the season. On May 21, Rafel "Tschäff" Rhyner and Rudy Huser, the new park managers, invite you to a relaxed freeride day. Kona will be repeating last year's successful test day and making the brand new 2006 bikes available for test rides.
