In just a few days, Aalen will take center stage as the host of the Mountain Bike Congress. There, the big questions facing the sport will be discussed. It’s an event intended to provide direction. On the trails around the city, however, one thing is currently evident above all else: a lack of direction. Aalen offers a vivid example of how Germany is dithering when it comes to mountain biking.

The new Baden-Württemberg coalition government, made up of the CDU and the Greens, wants to create singletrack trails across the state. Or, more precisely, to support local municipalities in doing so. This is stated in the coalition agreement. How this might happen in practice will be the focus of the German Mountain Bike Congress, taking place June 16–19 in Aalen.

In April 2026, Ride significantly expanded its tour database. The portfolio now includes, in particular, tours in the Swabian Alb and the Taunus region near Frankfurt.

The "Bike the Rock" Enduro was also part of the supporting program of the cross-country classic in Heubach. Lea Rutz was the fastest of the women over the four short stages. The Swiss rider won ahead of Denmark's Sandra Bohn and Jana Urban (GER). In the men's race, Max Pfeil took victory ahead of his German colleague Joel Hassfeld and Swiss rider Jonas Bernet.

Nina Benz wins the MTB Bundesliga classic in Heubach (GER) ahead of Lia Schrievers and Elisabeth Brandau. David List takes victory in the elite men's UCI-HC race. His compatriots Julian Schelb and Maximilian Brandl came second and third respectively.

Luca Schwarzbauer (Canyon-CLLCTV) celebrated a start-to-finish victory in the second round of the International Mountain Bike League. Malene Degn (KMC-Orbea) was fastest in the women's race after an exciting finale.

The Mercedes-Benz UCI Mountain Bike World Cup starts in Albstadt in just under four weeks and preparations are in full swing. From May 7 to 9, 2021, the best cross-country mountain bikers will ride in the Bullentäle in Albstadt-Tailfingen for the first points for the overall classification and have another chance to qualify for the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Jolanda Neff wins the second World Cup race of the season in Albstadt. She beats Ukraine's Yana Belomoina into second place by over two minutes, with Anne Tauber from the Netherlands coming third once again. Alessandra Keller takes an excellent fourth place, Linda Indergand finishes sixth behind local hero Elisabeth Brandau.

Elisabeth Brandau and Nino Schurter win the 18th edition of the classic "BiketheRock" at the national league opener in Heubach in southern Germany. Brandau surprises former world champion Maja Wloszczowska and world number one Yana Belomoina, while world champion Nino Schurter leaves three other Swiss riders behind in front of thousands of spectators.

British rider Evie Richards is the new leader of the women's U23 World Cup. She wins the second race in Albstadt and celebrates her first World Cup victory in 1:23:17 hours, 52 seconds ahead of Nove Mesto winner Kate Courtney from the USA. Sina Frei rides to the finish line in third place, just like a week earlier.
