Soft steel and light and airy: Fox launches new shocks for trail bikes

Fox is launching two interesting buffers for the 2022 model year: with the new FloatX, the US suspension specialists are offering a lightweight air shock with the qualities of the downhill shock, combined with simplified adjustability. At the same time, Fox is making the DHX steel shock compatible for short-stroke trail bikes thanks to shorter installation lengths and some simplifications.

Steel spring shocks are not only popular for downhill, but also for enduro. It is therefore obvious that the fine and consistent response of steel shocks should also appeal to short-stroke trail bikes. Fox therefore offers the DHX shock in installation lengths from 230 to 190 millimetres, or from 205 to 185 millimetres for trunnion mount shocks.

Available in multiple configurations including 2-position lever for climbing mode

Adjustments possible without tools, even while riding

New single-tube principle and new piston simplifies adjustment and enables wider rebound tuning

Separate lockout lever can be set to different levels to support different riding preferences

Suspension travel-specific reservoir lengths minimize installation space

Available as Factory and Performance Series, the latter has no Low Speed Compression adjustment

Lightweight, but takes it hard

The new FloatX air shock was specially developed for aggressive trail riding, i.e. for riders who like to let it rip and have an active riding style. The shock absorber combines sophisticated damping and consistent performance with a low weight. The FloatX shock absorber is available in installation lengths from 190 to 230 millimetres, or from 185 to 205 millimetres for trunnion mounts.

Separately tunable hard mode from light ( eMTB ) to firm ( trail bike ) allows specific tuning for the center of gravity of use
