Spotguide Surselva

The Surselva is increasingly developing into another diverse and attractive mountain bike region in Graubünden. The region includes the Bündner Oberland along the Vorderrhein from the Oberalp Pass to Ilanz, as well as Sedrun, Disentis, Obersaxen, the side valleys of Lugnez and Vals and the Safiental. The region is particularly interesting in combination with the neighboring Gottardo regions, with the core around Andermatt and Ticino, which can be reached via the Lukmanier Pass.

There are numerous post bus lines to choose from as a bike shuttle and a railroad line even runs over the Oberalp Pass to Andermatt. The mountain railroads in Sedrun and Disentis open up an attractive biking area, with Disentis also offering flow trails and a skills park.

Getting there

Arrival by public transport

The journey by public transport is usually by train via the Gottard line and the Oberalp Pass or via Chur and Ilanz. Postbuses also travel over the Lukmanier Pass, including the option of bike transport.

Arrival by car

The journey by car is the same as by public transport via the Gotthard highway or the freeway via Chur, then on the cantonal roads via Ilanz. All the passes are easily accessible by car, although attention must be paid to the winter closure in the low season. For the Oberalp Pass there are car loading facilities onto the railroad. The Lukmanier Pass from Disentis to Biasca is usually open all year round.
