Alpentour Davos

Albulatal

The Alpentour in Davos is one of the classic bike routes in Davos and connects the various Alps on the east side of the Landwasser Valley with attractive single trails.

Description

In Davos, take the alpine road up to Schatzalp and continue riding uphill to Podestatenalp. This is followed by a short descent to an alpine road, on which you ride uphill again. This section of the road is prohibited for bikes, so to be on the safe side, push your bike to the start of the single trail at Albertibach (bikes are not prohibited on the single trail). The trail initially leads uphill, but is easy to ride. You reach the Grüeni Alp and stay at this altitude until you reach the Erbalpen. The intermediate section to Ussererb leads over an alpine road, but the next singletrail section to Stafelalp starts behind it. You always follow the tree line, later reaching the Chummeralp and then the Bärentaler Alp. Here you head downhill and return to Davos via the country roads above Davos Glaris and through Davos Frauenkirch.

Note: The route can also be ridden in the opposite direction.

I rode the tour in the original direction today. There were lots of hikers between Schatzalp and Staffelalp. The trails are great and easy to ride on an e-bike. Even the many counter-climbs are fun (uphill flow). At the very end of the trail, two climbs are no longer possible, even on an e-bike.
All in all, a beautiful tour with a high proportion of singletrail and a beautiful panorama. Recommendation from me :-)

Rode it yesterday - no snow and great weather.
As described by the previous speakers, there are some uphill passages, but otherwise a great tour with a great panorama

20.08.2019 - Rain in the night and also in the morning, but then the rain stopped, the sky remains cloudy and deep wafts of mist drift through the valley, temperature 15 degrees. If you are still looking for outdoor exercise and don't want to go high up in the current weather conditions (max. altitude 2000 m), I can only warmly recommend the Alpine tour! I rode it in the direction described - up to the mountain station of the Schatzalp cable car only very few hikers - from there down to Glaris I only met 2 lonely hikers and a herd of cows during the descent to the Bärentaler Alp - not a single biker far and wide! Of course, the view was extremely modest due to the deep clouds of fog, but it was still a very special atmosphere and, above all, quiet without any bike crowds. The trails are somewhat technically demanding in places - pushing passages depending on your physical ambitions, but there are several of them. Coming from the Schatzalp side, I didn't find a no-cycling sign at Lochalp (despite a careful search) - but I did find one at the end of the crossing over the alp - but I'd already been over it......
All in all, a very rewarding tour, which is especially suitable in bad weather - in good weather I fear a much larger number of hikers (good ascent possibility with Schatzalp Bahn !!) !
Although this route can also be ridden in the opposite direction, I much preferred the main ascent from Davos to Schatzalp, as it is much less steep than the ascent from Glaris to Bärentaler Alp.

Did the tour on 30.7.18. Super trails. The last section to Bärentaleralp has many uphill passages. I don't understand why the forest road at Lochalp is forbidden and bikes have to be pushed? Surely a solution can be found.
