The Swiss bike manufacturer Transalpes, based in Baar, Switzerland, is ceasing operations. According to the company, the succession plan—which had been in the works for some time—has fallen through. The planned management buyout did not materialize, and the designated managing director, Thomas Steger, has since left the company.

Since 2002, Transalpes has been known for custom-built mountain bikes and lightweight e-mountain bikes manufactured in Switzerland. The bikes were hand-built at the factory in Baar and tailored to customer specifications. 

Founder and owner Michel Juhasz is now offering the company for sale and continues to seek a succession plan. The company boasts a well-known brand, a loyal customer base, and more than two decades of experience in the development and sale of custom-built mountain bikes and e-mountain bikes.

In its announcement, Transalpes Bike Manufaktur thanks its customers, partners, and supporters for 24 years of trust and a shared passion for biking.
