Fewer numb hands, more control: Novibe’s new grip system is based on a radical idea—instead of being rigidly attached to the handlebars, the grips are mechanically decoupled and are designed to absorb vibrations before they reach the palm. According to the developer, the result is supposed to feel almost as if you were rolling over a smooth carpet instead of rough trails.

At the heart of the system is a fully decoupled design: The grips are not rigidly connected to the handlebar but are suspended in a movable mechanism. This design allows for controlled evasive movements in all directions, with the primary damping provided by a circular motion of about five millimeters around the handlebar’s longitudinal axis.

Inside, a conical clamping system with a high-strength steel axle is integrated into a shortened handlebar. This is designed to maintain stable power transmission while effectively reducing impacts and high-frequency vibrations. Different damping elements also allow for adjustment to the rider’s weight, riding style, and intended use—from urban commuting to hardcore downhill riding.

The grips themselves are approximately 130 millimeters long and can be replaced as needed. According to the manufacturer, the system significantly exceeds current testing standards for vibration damping. Those who want to mount the grip system directly to their bike will need to be patient: the Trail and Gravity models are currently sold out.
