Race-Ticker

For the fourth time, the Swiss mountain bike racing series BIKE REVOLUTION made a stop in Davos Klosters. Over 550 riders rode in a top-class sporting event amid the mountains of Graubünden over the weekend of June 26–28. For the first time, the Bosch eMTB Challenge was part of the diverse bike festival, rounding out the program for recreational athletes.

In summer-like conditions, an exciting cross-country race unfolded on Sunday around the Jakobshornbahn. Ramona Forchini confirmed her improving form. After a controlled first half of the race, she decisively picked up the pace and launched an attack midway through the race. On the physically demanding course, she managed to steadily extend her lead and confidently defend it all the way to the finish.

Ramona Forchini Secures a Commanding Victory

“It was very dry, and like every year here, it was a really tough race. Seraina Leugger didn’t make it easy for me at the start, so I had to stay focused right from the beginning,” said the happy winner from the BIXS Race Team after the race. U23 rider Fiona Schibler from Biketeam Solothurn made another strong impression; as the winner of her category, she kept pace with the fastest elite riders and finished among the top three women in the overall standings.

BIXS Race Team Takes a Double Victory in the Men’s Race

Two hours later, Timon Rüegg and Luca Schätti (both BIXS Race Team) set the pace at the front of the men’s race. Shortly past the halfway point, Luca Schätti launched the decisive attack. He took the lead and steadily extended his advantage to about 30 seconds. Behind him, Luke Wiedmann (SUI) and Julian Schelb (GER) stayed in contact with the leader and waited for their chance. However, Schätti didn’t let the victory slip away and crossed the finish line alone: “I tried to ride at a consistently high pace and am glad I was able to see it through to the end,” said the race winner. Luke Wiedmann (BMC Factory Racing Team) quickly secured second place in a sprint against Julian Schelb (KMC Nukeproof MTB Racing Team). In the men’s U23 category, Khalid Sidahmed celebrated his first victory in an HC race. The rider from the Lexware Mountainbike Team prevailed against strong competition and once again demonstrated his great potential. The team, supported by the Davos Klosters region, was thus able to celebrate a special success at its partner’s home race.

Mountain Bike Festival for Young and Old

The UCI XCO Junior Series, the World Cup for U19 riders, also featured top international performances. In the junior women’s category, Anja Grossmann won convincingly. She thus capped off a perfect weekend after having already won the title at the Swiss Junior Women’s Road Championships the day before. With athletes from Brazil, Norway, Canada, Italy, and numerous other nations, the race in Davos once again underscored its international significance. At the same time, the festival centered around the Event Village offered a varied program featuring the Bosch eMTB Challenge, kids’ races, test rides, and culinary delights for the whole family.
