Never set the compression stage incorrectly again

The bike costs thousands and thousands of francs, but the suspension is poorly adjusted. This is a picture that is not uncommon on trails. Mondraker now wants to change that: The Foxy and Crafty models now have a telemetry system on board that uses multiple sensors and GPS transmitters to provide specific tips on air pressure, rebound and compression.

Imagine having to pump your car's suspension elements again if you have more luggage or ride on different terrain. What sounds like a joke for a car is a fact for a bike with air suspension elements: the suspension needs to be set up manually. For this setup to succeed, however, you need a certain amount of know-how and the ability to realize which setup changes have which effects.

Mondraker wants to simplify, if not revolutionize, the entire set-up procedure for air pressure, compression and rebound with a system called Mind. The Foxy and Crafty models have a built-in telemetry system. These systems are primarily used in racing, but have also been available to ordinary mortals since the Quarq ShockWiz at the latest.

And how does it work? The first sensor is located in the steerer tube, or rather underneath it. The second sensor is located at the pivot point of the rear rocker. These two sensors are designed to measure the field strengths of two magnets. These magnets are attached to the fork's dip tube and the main bearing of the rocker. Further data is provided by the GPS sensor, which determines data such as speed, altitude or distance covered.

In order to convert the data into a usable format for the mountain biker, they need a smartphone with the myMondraker app installed. This is also where the evaluation and tips on how to better adjust the suspension are provided. In addition to recording any deflections, Mind also provides fun facts such as the behavior during jumps, including jump distance, take-off speed or flight time. Another really good feature is the integrated tracking function, which allows the bike to be localized in the event of theft, for example, as long as the Mind system is under power.

Speaking of power: the Mind devices are rechargeable and offer an average battery life of more than 20 hours in operation and more than 15 days in standby mode. The complete Mind system weighs just 199 grams, is maintenance-free and elegantly and unobtrusively integrated into the frame design. The 2021 Foxy Carbon and Crafty Carbon models are available with the Mind system.
