The extensive renovation work on the upper of the two mountain railroad sections to the Jakobshorn in Davos is proceeding according to plan, but the project is taking longer due to additional work. The planned start of operations in September 2022 will therefore be postponed until the coming winter season, as Davos Klosters Bergbahnen wrote in a press release.

Investing in safety and energy efficiency

By the start of the winter season, the waiting areas and signage at the stations will have been redesigned and the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act and fire safety will have been implemented. In addition, the building shell of the Jakobshorn mountain station will be renovated. In this context, the glass front of the panorama restaurant on the Jakobshorn will be fitted with new large windows. The south façade will also be fitted with a photovoltaic system.

In order to carry out the work to the required quality, efficiently and on time and to guarantee safety, the second section of the Jakobshorn cable car will remain closed for the 2022 summer season. "We regret that the second section of the Jakobshornbahn will not be available this summer. However, we are also convinced that it makes sense to carry out the necessary work on the railroad renovation in one summer and to use the synergies of the various sub-projects." Says Martina Walsoe, Head of Marketing at Davos Klosters Bergbahnen.

The lower section of the mountain railroad on the Jakobshorn from Davos Platz to Ischalp will ride daily until 23 October 2022. The legendary original route of the Bahnentour Davos is not affected by the restrictions on the Jakobshorn, only the 100K version cannot be ridden continuously.

Trail through the Ducantal valley open again

The path through the Ducantal valley, which was closed at the beginning of summer 2022 due to an impending rockfall, is open again. According to the municipality of Davos, experts were able to check the situation a few days ago after considerable rock masses fell and reopen the popular descent from the Ducanfurgga into the Sertig Valley.
