The BMC Racing Cup is at the heart of the event. One of the highlights is the duel between current world champion Nino Schurter and multiple Olympic champion Julien Absalon. In the women's race, Katrin Leumann, a rider from the region, is even in with a chance of winning. The races in the junior categories are a little slower but no less attractive to watch.

The best in their fields will also be competing in the other cycling disciplines on show at the Schänzli. For example, multiple artistic cycling world champion David Schnabel will be demonstrating his skills at the Schänzli. After the first few jumps, even the layman will recognize that only experienced professionals compete in the dirt jump competition. The Bikefestival Basel is not just for passive spectators. Attractions such as the BLKB Bike Challenge with tours of varying lengths, the EBM Minidrome and the pump track invite everyone to take part. With the newly introduced biker party on Saturday evening with a show program, music and bar service, party animals will also get their money's worth. However, with the varied sports program and the numerous festival restaurants, the event becomes a folk festival even in daylight.www.bikefestival-basel.ch
