The Goldiwheel Trail is one of the highlights of the Thunersee Bike Park. It winds its way down from Goldiwil toward Thun in several sections. The main route is a blue trail, meaning it’s easy to ride. However, there are frequent red and even black sections where experts will find plenty to challenge them. Big jumps are also part of the course; everything is rideable, but it takes riding and aerial skills to safely master the kickers and fast sections. 

On Easter Monday, according to the Bern Cantonal Police, a person veered off the course after a jump and fell four meters down a slope. The person was so severely injured that they died at the scene of the accident despite immediate first aid provided by bystanders. Since the victim’s identity has not yet been officially confirmed, the Bern Cantonal Police are not providing any information regarding the age or gender of the person involved in the accident.

The editorial team currently does not know on which section the person fell or whether they were an experienced mountain biker.
