The EKZ Cup race is being held in Egg for the 20th time. Exciting competitions are once again expected on the challenging course to mark the anniversary. In the men's race, a top duel between Jürg Graf and Simon Zahner is expected, but Cup runner-up Marcel Bartholet as well as Silvio Büsser and Patrick Tresch should not be overlooked. While Graf is trying to consolidate his overall lead over Bartholet, Zahner is toughening up for the upcoming cyclo-cross season.

In the women's race, one or two of the participants in the World Championships may use the EKZ Cup as a stopover on the way to the World Cup final in Norway. Katrin Leumann in particular has indicated that she will be at the start, depending on her level of recovery from the World Championship race and the stresses and strains of traveling. Sarah Koba is again seeded. After her injury break, last year's Swiss champion wants to slowly but steadily return to the racing circuit in the EKZ Cup.

The competition between Maurer and Baumgartner will once again be exciting. The two Sabrinas have been dueling throughout the season, with Maurer slightly ahead. Baumgartner, however, is not giving up easily and will continue to try and close the gap. Sabrina Maurer is relaxed about the challenge and will see what comes out of the race on Sunday. The EKZ Cup overall victory is still her goal. It will also be exciting for third place overall. Rahel Signer is currently recommended for this. However, she still has to defend herself against any counterattacks from Daniela Wäfler.

The course in Egg demands a lot from the participants. Long and steep climbs ruthlessly expose the differences in fitness and strength. Racy descents, not least the giant slalom, place high demands on technique and courage. OC boss Klaus Kiessling is looking forward to next Sunday, when the race will be held in Egg for the twentieth time. Kiessling is also hoping that this time the number of participants will break the 500 mark. The following Tuesday evening, a six-minute race report will be broadcast on Sport Szene Fernsehen "SSF". The EKZ Cup magazine will summarize the most important aspects of the race in Egg at 7.50 pm. In addition, further exciting video and photo reports will be available on the social media channels from Monday.www.ekz-cup.ch
