The focus was always on skiing, snowboarding, skateboarding and FMX sports, but mountain bikers also celebrated their premiere at the action sports showcase on Zurich's Landwiese in 2012. The dirt jumpers rolled up to the start and some mountain bike brands also showed themselves to the action sports-hungry public in the exhibitor zone. The dirt jumpers remained on board for a further two events, but in 2015 and 2016 the organizers had to deal with financial problems and the events were cancelled.

From September 25 to October 1, 2017, freestyle.ch was finally set to make a comeback in Bern. News in March about an innovative concept to promote young talent sounded like a lot of enthusiasm in the event team, and the city of Bern had already guaranteed 150,000 francs as a subsidy in fall 2016.

Despite the move to the capital and a realignment of the event concept, it was not possible to cover the budget with sponsorship money within the necessary timeframe. Christoph Müller, freestyle.ch project manager, explains: "We are very grateful for the money we have received from existing sponsors. However, in order to hold an event on this scale, we would have needed additional sponsors, which we were unfortunately unable to mobilize. The financial uncertainty would have remained too great until the event, so it was with a heavy heart that we had to make a negative decision."

It is not possible to say at this stage what the future holds for freestyle.ch. "In any case, we will examine all options and inform you again in due course," Müller continued.www.freestyle.ch
