"Alex was one of us. It could have happened to any of us. So we want to come together in our grief to remember Alex for who he was. A kind and caring soul who served as a shining example to others in this world." With these words, the Angry Catfish Bicycle collective from Minneapolis is calling for a Unity Ride next Saturday, January 31, 2026. Even though Alex Pretti's light was extinguished by the fascist US regime, it is not lost, the appeal continues. Rather, his spark has ignited something that burns in many. Together, the Minneapolis bike scene, to which Alex Pretti belonged, wants to set an example. Because together they are stronger than those who have Pretti on their conscience. 

Innsbruck and Vienna cycle for Alex Pretti

The call from the Minneapolis bike community quickly spread like wildfire and by the time this text was written, over 100 groups worldwide had already joined in. For example, on Friday, January 30, the Critical Mass in Innsbruck will become the PRETTI GOOD RIDE in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good, who was also murdered by ICE officers. The meeting point is at 6 pm at the Annasäule in Maria-Theresien-Straße. In Vienna, on Saturday, 31 January, the Bikeshop "The pocket bike"  to the Alex Pretti soliride. The meeting point is at 2 pm at Leopoldsgasse 28 in the 2nd district. 

Angry Catfish Bicycle is calling on bike stores and the bike scene everywhere to join the Unity Ride in honor of Alex Pretti. To do so, the group is providing free poster and flyer templates created by Casey Robertson, a local designer, on their Instagram channel.

Salsa Cycles calls for resistance

With Salsa Cycles, a Minnesota-based bicycle manufacturer has also spoken out and condemned the murder of Alex Pretti in no uncertain terms: "Our neighbors are being unlawfully detained, harassed and murdered by federal immigration officials. It's time to take a stand against this and stand up." Salsa Cycles is calling on its customers to contact their elected political representatives to express their displeasure with this action and to join Angry Catfish Bicycle's Unity Ride.

37-year-old Alex Pretti was the latest fatality in a series of fatal attacks by mostly masked and grouped officers of President Donald Trump's US regime. The brutal actions of the officers are causing growing protest and resistance in the USA, which has now also reached the bike community.
