The European Cross-Country Mountain Bike Championships were supposed to take place in Istanbul this season. Now the European Cycling Union (UEC) is withdrawing the Turkish organizer's right to host the event, citing safety concerns as the reason.
Various nations had announced that they would not be taking part. Switzerland also rejected Istanbul as a venue. The new venue for the European Championships from July 27 to 30, 2017 is Darfo Boario Terme in Italy.
