George Visser was a beacon of hope in Canadian mountain biking in the early years. He came to Europe as a 21-year-old to gain important experience in the big races on his way to the Olympic Games in Atlanta. Visser has Dutch roots, which is how he became friends with Bart Brentjens. That was in 1994. 26 years later, Visser accused Brentjens of doping practices in a blog post on July 20, 2020. Ride reported on this in detail here. Visser has since deleted the blog post, which contained no evidence, following legal pressure from Brentjens. In light of this, Ride is also refraining from reproducing the blog content because it is no longer accessible and therefore cannot be verified.
