Pull out your agenda: Mark these bike events in your calendar

The cycling season is just around the corner and with it, bike events are sprouting up like crocuses. From now on, there will be cool events almost every weekend that will whet your appetite for biking, a new bike or simply a get-together with like-minded people. Ride gives you an overview of which events you shouldn't miss.

In French-speaking Switzerland, the season is currently being opened with a trade fair from March 23 to 25: The fourth Salon du Vélo will be held at the Expo-Areal Beaulieu in Lausanne, where the dominant themes will be cargo and urban bikes, folding bikes and, of course, electric bikes.

The Urban Bike Festiva l will take place in Zurich from April 6 to 8. The Urban Cyclocross is sure to provide sporting entertainment, with daring cyclocrossers hurtling down kerbs and steps, racing over the Letten Viaduct and Josefwiese. Trials god Danny MacAskill will also be taking part with three shows at the event in Zurich West.

On April 21, BMC opens its doors in Grenchen: the manufacturer invites visitors to its test center and showroom. BMC employees will take visitors on their home trails or serve beer and bratwurst. On April 27 and 28, a trip - or rather a journey through time - to Thun is on the cards: at the FMB Gold Event Swatch Rocket Air, Nicholi Rogatkin, Sam Pilgrim and Thomas Genon will travel back to the year 3000 and show what the state of the art is in terms of slopestyle.

From May 4 to 6, the Bike Days Solothurn will be celebrating its 10th anniversary. The event inspires with international and national cross-country and freestyle competitions and offers festival visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in different cycling worlds.

By the way, the Pro Velo event is a real blast: the bike fairs from Aarau to Zug ensure lots of second-hand bikes and new bikes are sold with considerable discounts. Pro Velo uses an online calendar to show where and when a bike fair is taking place.

Of course, the spring exhibition at your trusted specialist dealer is also worth a visit and a look at the calendar of events. Many bike dealers start the season in a very customer-friendly way and present the latest models, possibly garnish last year's models with attractive discounts and are not stingy with beer and bratwurst. So if you want to start the new season in a happy mood, you should definitely check which dealers in the area are hosting spring exhibitions.
