Fadri Barandun and Andrin Beeli capped off the 2026 Swiss Epic with a special home victory. The two riders from Graubünden won the five-day stage race in their home canton of Graubünden, of all places. In the women’s race, Anna Weinbeer and Claudia Peretti dominated the competition and confidently secured the overall victory with five stage wins.

With the slogan “Carbon Instead of Stamina,” Graubünden’s promotional mascots Gian and Giachen became famous throughout the German-speaking world. The slogan became a cult classic. Now the two comical ibexes are celebrating their comeback, a touch more cheeky and perfectly adapted to the times.

After seven years of planning, construction is set to begin on the Julier Pass on a continuous trail for mountain bikers and hikers. The 16.5-kilometer-long Julier Trail will close an important gap between the Surses region, including Bivio, and the Upper Engadine, including Silvaplana. Approximately 2.3 million Swiss francs are being invested in the project, which is scheduled to open in the spring of 2028.

The Spar Swiss Epic 2025 is history: Vera Looser and Alexis Skarda take control of the women's race with four stage wins and a commanding victory. In the opening race of the ÖKK Bike Revolution in Chur, world champion Pauline Ferrand Prevot dominated her race. The Frenchwoman won ahead of Alessandra Keller and Seraina Leugger. In the men's race, local rider Nino Schurter and Luca Schätti dominated for a long time. In the end, however, Lars Forster shone as the winner, while Schurter dropped out of the decision due to a defect.

A total of 31 teams took part in the Grischa Trail Ride 2023. A total of 19 mountain railroads were used on the three stages between Davos, Lenzerheide and Arosa and a total of 150 trail sections were covered.

One day after the coronation of King Charles III, the mountain bikers from the British Isles are flying high in Chur, the kingdom of Nino Schurter. Evie Richards, 2021 mountain bike world champion, won the women's race and Olympic champion Tom Pidcock took the day's victory in the men's race. 16,000 fans watched the mountain bike races live on site.

The Government Council of the Canton of Graubünden is securing the continuation of the "graubündenBIKE" project with a grant of 2.5 million francs. The amount will go to the company Allegra Tourismus, which has been commissioned to manage the project.

As soon as the Easter holidays are over, the 2023 season kicks off with the first bike festivals in numerous locations. Two bike festivals that could hardly be more different kick off in mid-April. While "sportz und beatz" takes place in the tranquil village of Thusis in Graubünden, the "Argus Bike Festival" in Austria's capital Vienna is a big hit.

The book "Trailmatters" by photographer Filip Zuan is a visual declaration of love to the trails in Graubünden. From the valleys to the glaciers, it depicts exclusively deserted trails, inviting mountain bikers, trail runners and hikers alike to dream.

From August 24 to 27, the Grischa Trail Ride will once again take to the trails around Davos, Lenzerheide and Arosa to determine the "Kings of Grischa Trail Ride". In teams of two to five riders, the winners are not simply the fastest, but those who complete the most trails in their own order. Registration for this unique trail weekend is now open.

The two top athletes from Graubünden, Nino Schurter and Nevin Galmarini, have a lot in common. Both have an Olympic victory in their palmarès, and they also share a passion for mountain biking. In their home region of Graubünden, they find ideal conditions for this, thanks to the liberal interpretation of the law on trail use by politicians. With the Fairtrail campaign and the support of the prominent athletes, the canton is drawing attention to this exceptional circumstance and raising awareness of coexistence in practice - the shared use of trails.

Graubünden wants to become the best mountain bike destination in the world and is therefore looking for 25 bikers to put the "Home of Trails" through its paces. The task of those selected: to ride, use and visit the trails, mountain railroads, hotels and restaurants in Graubünden by mountain bike from July 7 to 11, 2022. In the subsequent workshop, they then have to point out what they like, where they see potential for improvement or which services or infrastructure they miss. In order to be selected for one of the 25 places, candidates must answer a few questions and master basic technical skills on a mountain bike.

Reigning cross-country world champion Nino Schurter and former mountain bike star Ralph Näf are launching a new racing experience in the 2022 season. The "ÖKK BIKE REVOLUTION" combines top-class sport, popular sport, youth development and mountain bike events. It starts in March on Monte Tamaro.

At the third edition of the Swiss Epic in Graubünden, Switzerland's Ariane Lüthi and South Africa's Robyn de Groot take overall victory. Lukas Flückiger and Nicola Rohrbach do the same in the men's race. They win four, Lüthi and de Groot five of the five stages with finishes in St. Moritz, Valposchiavo and Davos.

In the first episode of the series "Take Claudio to the Limit", old downhill hands Claudio Caluori and Steve Peat duel it out in the Downhill World Cup just like in the good old days. The bikes they use clearly belong to the "retro" category, but that doesn't stop them from giving it their all on the trails in Davos Klosters.

Just in time for the start of the mountain railroad season on Saturday, June 26, 2021, summer is really picking up speed in Graubünden. Herbert has already been out on the trails and found first-class conditions at medium altitudes. Information on the single trails that can already be ridden can be found in the video and on the websites of the destinations. Careful planning is worthwhile, as there is still widespread snow at high altitudes.

A whole series of new challenges await Claudio Caluori in summer 2021. Three years after Claudio and Danny MacAskill delivered a spectacular chase through the "Home of Trails", this year is once again about glory, but above all about honor, and several times over. Five prominent mountain bikers will challenge Claudio to a duel on the legendary trails in the five bike regions of Graubünden.

The Alpenbikepark on Chur's local mountain Brambrüesch will be the first bike park in Graubünden to open for the season on Friday, April 2, 2021. The lower of the two sections of the mountain railroad between the valley station in Chur and the Känzeli middle station will be in operation for the time being. This means that two of the bike park's five routes are already available and cover all levels of difficulty, making them particularly suitable for the first rides after the winter break.

The Swiss Epic in Graubünden will once again enchant the teams with magnificent views this year. Around 400 teams are expected to take part in the third edition of the Swiss Epic in Graubünden from August 17 to 21. On the five stages from St. Moritz via Valposchiavo to Davos, the teams can expect 347 kilometers and almost 12,000 vertical meters in the bike paradise of the Alps. The Swiss Epic is part of the global Epic Series: 15 teams have the chance to start at the Absa Cape Epic in South Africa.

From August 18 to 22, 2020, the world's best mountain bikers will ride through the canton of Graubünden from Laax via Arosa to Davos in the Swiss Epic. However, there is still a shortage of helpers at the stage locations. And these are extremely important to ensure a perfectly organized competition from registration to the end of the race, for Olympic champions and the last participants alike.

The talking ibexes Gian and Giachen are getting reinforcements - from this summer, the "Trail-Guurus" will be answering questions about mountain biking in Graubünden. In the "Guuru Chat", which has been embedded in the "Bike" section of the Graubünden Ferien website and on Herbert.bike since mid-June 2020, mountain bike experts will answer questions within minutes.

The people of Graubünden have always had more than enough ideas, and now the next coup is in the starting blocks: the Fairdinand. He declares war on stress on the hiking trails. He enters the ring against red heads not only with sun cream but also with good sayings.

After five years in Valais, the Swiss Epic is changing location in 2019: the stage race is moving to Graubünden and will remain there for at least another five years. The driving force behind the move is the Davos region together with St. Moritz, Arosa, Lenzerheide, Scuol and Flims-Laax. Details will be announced next Monday at a media orientation event.
