Freiburg in Breisgau is considered a cycling mecca: on the one hand, there are good trails in the city on the Black Forest, and bicycle companies are also flourishing there. Specialized, for example, wanted to open a modern innovation center and had a property extensively converted. However, the company will not be moving there, but Specialized is still paying rent.

Freiburg im Breisgau is the MTB hotspot in the Black Forest and is known for its strong MTB scene. This invites you to the traditional festival on the third weekend in April - a good opportunity to pay a visit to the local trails.

Recently, film student Luis Kuhn published his first work, which is well worth seeing: a documentary about the mountain bike scene in Freiburg. The 20-minute clip provides a motivating insight into a strong and iconic mountain bike scene.

For the new video series "Ride Check with Sandro Schmid", Ride sends MTB Youtuber Sandro Schmid on selected singletrail tours from the extensive tour database.

This summer, Ride has considerably expanded the route network of the Singletrail Map (6000 kilometers) and its tour database (43 entries) with routes from the Black Forest. However, the unspeakable two-meter rule applies here. This raises the question: is this the right thing to do or is it a disservice to the sport of mountain biking?

It can happen that quickly: Two bicycle thieves were recently caught by the police in southern Germany. Witnesses had previously reported to the police that two men were loading three bicycles into a French station wagon in front of the swimming pool in Steinach. This was followed by a wild chase and shortly afterwards a trip to prison.

Few developers have shaped the mountain bike as much as Peter Denk. His early own brand Hot Chili produced legendary bikes. Denk's subsequent exclusive development work for Scott, Cannondale and Specialized helped these brands reach new heights. The development company Denk Engineering, based in Freiburg, is now owned by Specialized.
