Slovenian Miran Vauh turns the tables in the final race of the European iXS Downhill Series and knocks Australian Joe Connel off the top step of the podium with his victory. Second place went to Austrian junior rider David Trummer and third to Brit Ruaridh Cunningham. Connel did not have the best weekend and only finished 19th in Saturday's timed run. Things just didn't go any better in the race and so the Australian had to settle for 22nd place. In the overall standings, the 19-year-old is still in third place. Second place went to Vauh's compatriot Ziga Pandur, who finished fifth in the race.

Swiss rider Lars Peyer finishes the final race in tenth place. As a result, the fast Bernese can maintain his fourth place in the overall standings. The next Swiss riders, Dominik Gspan and Billy Caroli, finish 20th and 21st, meaning that although Gspan did not finish his European season as desired, he finished a respectable ninth overall. Lutz Weber finished twelfth overall without riding the last three races.

In the women's race, all eyes are on a victory for Manon Carpenter. The Englishwoman is currently number three in the downhill world rankings. Slovenian champion Zarja Zernilogar is already taking a brisk approach to Saturday's time trial, although she already has the overall victory in the bag. She completes the challenging 2.6-kilometer course a full five seconds faster than the Brit. In the race, Carpenter's time literally evaporated on the wet track, as Cernilogar beat the top time by an incredible 15 seconds to win this race too.

From the female Swiss downhill guard, only Carina Cappellari is still at the start. Although she did not achieve a top result with sixth place, she was rewarded with third place in the series.
Marcel Waldmann also finished third overall in the Masters category. However, Waldmann, who is known as one of the best cornering technicians in Switzerland, will not be competing in Maribor.
