The "Space Rail System" is available in three versions: for wall and ceiling mounting as well as a solution for sloping ceilings. Up to 24 bikes can be stored close together. A single rail can hold up to four bikes, and a maximum of six rails can be joined together. The hooks, which hold the front wheel, can be rotated 360 degrees and moved along the rail so that the bikes can be stored offset.

The system was tested for mounting on the ceiling, with two rails and (only) six hooks. Due to the limited space available, a version with eight places was not possible.

The total length of the two rails is 3992 millimetres and it requires a room depth of 1300 millimetres from the wall to the saddle or rear wheel of the hanging bikes. The price for this version is CHF 568.

First impression

The individual elements of the system are produced to a very high standard. Thanks to precise instructions, the hanging system is easy to assemble with a little manual skill. To be able to store as many bikes as possible, they must be hung in opposite directions. The hooks are wide enough for 2.6-inch tires, and there is a special adapter for fat bikes.

In use

In the videos from Stashed Products, the handling looks like child's play. But it's not quite that simple in reality. Two factors are crucial: the height of the room and the number of bikes suspended. The higher the ceiling, i.e. the higher the hooks are mounted, the more difficult it is to lift and hang up a bike. The easily rotatable hooks tend to avoid the front wheel. It takes a while to get the hang of it and to be able to hang it up without any effort, especially with heavy e-bikes. If an empty rack is filled from one side to the other, it's no big deal. However, if a bike is taken off the hook in the middle and then put back on again later, it takes some skill. Although the tested version holds up to eight bikes, with six hooks it is just barely possible to push the mountain bikes close enough together so that one can be unhooked in between. Even if there had been more space to the right of the rail (see photo) so that the hook could have been pushed right up to the stop, the additional 25 centimeters of clearance would not have been enough. The problem is the wide handlebars of MTBs. If you use the system with gravel bikes as well as road bikes and/or city bikes, you have no worries.

Conclusion

Stashed Products creates a lot of space for bikes in a small area with the "Space Rail Bike Storage Systems". Once you've got the hang of it, you'll be up and running in no time. Thanks to the numerous combination methods, this suspension system is suitable for private individuals as well as stores or racing teams.

Recommendation

It is important that there is at least half a meter of free space to the left and right of the rails. Only then can the bikes be pushed to the end of the rail and the maximum space for hanging can be created in between.
