At the beginning of February 2025, the investigation into the theft of several e-bikes began after it was noticed that several bikes were missing from a specialist store in Marburg. Within the company, it was quickly established that the suspected offender was one of the company's own employees, who, according to the Marburg police, was acting together with at least one accomplice.

As part of the investigation, the police requested two search warrants from the Marburg public prosecutor's office. The officers provisionally arrested the 32-year-old employee from the specialist retailer. The officers did not find any evidence in his apartment, but they did seize his cell phone. In the home of the second, absent suspect, the officers found three pedelecs and 26 pedelec batteries with a total value of around 31,000 euros. They also obtained evidence of a rented garage,

in which the police found a further 32 pedelecs, most of which were as good as new, as well as numerous batteries, chargers and other accessories with a total value of around 100,000 euros. So far, 12 pedelecs worth around 40,000 euros and accessories worth around 20,000 euros have been recovered and returned to the specialist dealers. Further allocations and investigations are ongoing and it can be assumed that the stolen goods came from all over Germany.
