For the 2009 season, Thömus is launching more new products on the market than ever before. In the mountain bike sector, the new full-suspension Lightrider stands out in particular. It is the lightest fully ever developed in Oberried. Low weight and uncompromising stiffness are two of the outstanding features of this marathon bike. Markus Binggeli, Sales Manager and brother of Thömus founder Thomas Binggeli, is full of praise. "I've been riding mountain bikes for a good 20 years now. But never before has a bike been as much fun as the new Lightrider!".

The undisputed star of the big Bike Expo, however, is the new electric bike "Stromer". Developed in record time, this electric bike not only impresses with its trendy appearance. At first glance, the Stromer looks like a normal city bike. The battery is elegantly concealed in the frame. Available in two different versions, the Stromer supports the rider up to 50 km/h. The Stromer is therefore ideal for commuting but also for leisurely rides with the family.

Thömus Managing Director Thomas Binggeli is particularly proud of the collaboration with the development partners. With the Bern University of Applied Sciences, creaholic, Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, inspire irpd and Mangodesigns, the Oberried bike makers found competent and innovative partners who contributed to the successful implementation with great commitment. "From the idea and the first simple sketches on a placemat in the restaurant to the finished model, all partners pulled in the same direction. We are proud to have developed such a product in Switzerland," says Thomas Binggeli.

But the Stromer idea goes one step further. With 1to1 energy, Thömus offers an interesting green electricity product. 500 kWh of green electricity from 1to1 energy is included with the purchase. This means the customer rides in an environmentally friendly manner for 5 years, promotes renewable energies and makes an active contribution to environmental protection.

The first test rides with the Stromer are possible at the big Bike Expo in Oberried from March 26 to 29. The exhibition is open daily from 9 am to 9 pm (Sunday until 5 pm). In addition to the Stromer and Lightrider, Thömus will be showcasing over 100 different models of mountain bikes, racing bikes, city bikes, electric bikes, touring/trekking bikes and children's bikes at the largest specialist bike exhibition in the canton of Bern. There is also a wide range of cycling and leisure clothing to choose from. The Thömus Snowfarm offers numerous bargains in the snow sports area with its end-of-season sale.
