In the junior women's race, a three-strong lead is established with the two Swiss athletes Alessandra Keller and Sina Frei as well as Malene Degn from Denmark. Frei is the first to fall out of the trio. Degn then goes on the attack, catches Keller on a short climb and begins her solo ride. The beaming winner Degn is overjoyed to be back after her winter injury break. On the last lap, Sina Frei catches up with Alessandra Keller again. At her limit on the climbs, the Swiss cyclo-cross champion is able to keep up on the downhill. It comes to a sprint, where the more explosive Frei overtakes world champion Keller.

A strong climber Andreassen
A top trio also soon emerges in the juniors. This includes the leader of the Junior World Series Luca Schwarzbauer (GER), Simon Andreassen (DEN) and Hugo Pigeon (FRA). The latter can no longer keep up the pace at the halfway point of the race and has to let Schwarzbauer and Andreassen go. The German, who is stronger on the downhill, tries to keep his rival at bay on the downhill. However, the short descents are not enough and so Andreassen takes the lead one lap before the end and wins solo ahead of Schwarzbauer and Pigeon.

Filippo Collombo from Ticino has had to invest the last few weeks in tests and therefore skipped the World Series race in Nove Mesto. In the meantime, Collombo was able to work his way up to ninth position, but lost ground again and finished the race in 14th place, which was good considering the circumstances.
