For example, Monte Lema in Ticino, where the best descents are on the lesser-known Italian side. Or the Fimber Pass, a Transalp classic that is also worthwhile as a one-day tour. There is also the Urseren High Trail, a high alpine hiking route which, following a trail renovation, offers mountain bikers completely new perspectives.
 
The Monte Lema, the Fimber Pass and the Urseren High Trail are routes that can be tackled immediately. A little more preparation is needed if you want to follow Gerhard Czerner's adventure. With his bike on his shoulders and photographer Martin Bissig in tow, he climbed the 6739-metre-high Llullaillaco in Chile and brought home a wonderfully impressive travel report.
 
The report by Holger Meyer, who set off on a multi-day mountain bike tour through the Dolomites with his two children, is also about travel. He describes everything you need to know about single trail routes with children.
 
The August issue has more to offer than just single trails. In a major report, Ride introduces the mechanics behind the pros like Schurter and Flückiger who lay the foundations for the athletes' top performances.
